Parliamentary Inspector of the Corruption and Crime Commission—Craig
Peacock—Criticism
374. Hon Nick Goiran to
the parliamentary secretary representing the Attorney General:
I refer to the
recent announcement that John McKechnie will not complete his term as Corruption
and Crime Commissioner.
(1) Is the Attorney General aware of the criticism
from the parliamentary inspector regarding the commission's false implication
that former trade commissioner Craig Peacock had possibly committed tax
evasion?
(2) Is he aware that the inspector did not find
the commission's subsequent explanation to be satisfactory?
(3) Is he aware that, as the commission declined
to prepare a supplementary report to address the errors and omissions, the
inspector tabled his own report?
(4) What steps is he taking to remediate Mr
Peacock?
