I refer to question on notice 1818, answered on 27 February 2024, and I ask: (a) what are the vehicle categories the electric vehicle (EV) target applies to and what percentage of the Government fleet do these vehicles make up; (b) what percentage of the overall Government fleet is exempt from the EV target; (c) how many Government fleet vehicles will be electric when the Government meets the EV target; (d) list the vehicle categories identified in QON 1818 (c) that do not have electric vehicles that meet operational requirements; and (e) will the Government EV fleet target of 50% be revised when more electric options, that meet operational requirements, become available in all vehicle categories?

a) The electric vehicle (EV) target, commencing 1 July 2025 applies to passenger vehicles and small or medium sports utility vehicles (SUV’s) based in the Perth metropolitan area. Western Australia Police Force vehicles and vehicles leased to officers remunerated under Salaries and Allowances Tribunal determinations are excluded. The target applies to 27.6 percent of State fleet vehicles.
b) 2.4 per cent of State fleet vehicles are exempt from the EV target.
c) The EV target is expected to result in approximately 1,300 new EVs, once eligible vehicles have been replaced at the end of their lease terms.
d) Large SUVs, other light commercial vehicles (including utilities, vans and light trucks) and WA Police vehicles.
e) The EV target or eligibility criteria may be reviewed from time-to-time as prevailing market conditions change.
