(1) Do Japanese whaling vessels refuel in West Australian ports?
(2) If yes to (1), which ports do these vessels re-fuel in and when?
(3) If yes to (1), will the Minister prohibit this refuelling or sale of fuel?
(4) If no to (1), are other Japanese ships, especially research or spotter vessels, monitored as to whether they obtain fuel to re-fuel Japanese whaling vessels?
(5) What action will the Minister take to stop whaling boats obtaining fuel through West Australian ports?

(1) Japanese whaling vessels do not refuel at Western Australian ports.
(Access by foreign whaling vessels to Australian ports is regulated by Section 236 of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999. The masters of a foreign whaling vessel must obtain the written permission of the Federal Minister for the vessel to enter an Australian port.)
