JOONDALUP HEALTH CAMPUS —
CHILD FATALITIES
955. Hon Dr BRIAN WALKER to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Health:
I refer the minister to recent disturbing
news that a 13-year-old child has died just days after being discharged from
Joondalup Health Campus.
(1) Given that
this is the third death involving a child in the recent care of Joondalup
Health Campus in the past 18 months—the fourth, if one includes the
expectant mother who was left unmonitored for hours, only to see her baby
delivered stillborn by the time she was checked—what is the minister
doing to ensure that there is not a systemic problem at this particular
hospital?
(2) Can we expect
a detailed report from the Department of Health in the near future to allay
quite obvious public concerns over this alarming trend; and, if not, why not?
