(1) I am advised by the Department of Education that requests for transfers including those on compassionate grounds are only available to permanent teachers and are considered on a case by case basis. The particular circumstances of each request will be considered and assessed equitably. Matters that may be relevant to an employee's transfer request on compassionate grounds include but are not limited to:
· any serious medical condition of the employee or the employee's immediate family member;
· the terminal illness of an employee or employee's immediate family member;
· access to special schooling needs for an employee's child who has a disability that is not pre-existing or where there has been a change in those needs; and
· threat to the physical and mental welfare of the employee.
(2) In the
Transfer and Deployment of Teaching Staff Policy
.
(3) I am advised by the Department of Education that the Policy containing the information is usually available on the Department of Education website, but is currently under review. Any teacher requiring information about transfer based on compassionate grounds can be provided with information on request.
(4) The timeframe varies according to the individual's circumstances and the availability of suitable vacancies.
