MEAT PROCESSING INDUSTRY - SKILLED MIGRANT MEATWORKERS
(1) Has the minister agreed to sign the government of Western Australia temporary skilled labour agreement? (2) If no to (1), why not, given that the request for those workers was made by Deputy Premier Eric Ripper in July? (3) If no to (1), when will the minister agree to sign the agreement, given that the meat processing industry has been waiting for nearly three months for the opportunity to employ skilled guest meatworkers and avert a potential animal welfare crisis? (4) If no to (1), why did the minister fly to the United Kingdom to promote Western Australia as a market for skilled labour without first resolving the pressing need of the meat processing industry? Hon KATE DOUST
