ROADSIDE WEEDS
LIST
563. Hon SALLY TALBOT to the minister representing the
Minister for Environment:
I refer to the environmental roadside weeds list that was
recently endorsed by the Minister for Environment.
(1) Will the
list be published on the Department of Environment and Conservation website and
the website of the Roadside Conservation Committee?
(2) What statutory or regulatory status does the list have
currently?
(3) Is the minister planning to strengthen the statutory or
regulatory status of the list in the future?
(4) If yes to
(3), what changes are planned and do they include restrictions on the
propagation, sale and control of specific plants?
(5) How are
local authorities, Main Roads, DEC regions and other stakeholders being
informed of the list?
(6) Does the minister have a communication plan to inform the
wider community about the list?
(7) What
control measures will the government require on the actions of custodians of
roadsides and under what mechanism will this be made legally binding?
