OF ENVIRONMENT REGULATION — LANDFILL LEVY DISPUTE
589. Hon AMBER-JADE SANDERSON to the minister representing the Minister for Environment:
(1) Are any of
the Minister for Environment's agencies currently involved in a dispute
with Eclipse Resources Pty Ltd over the payment or collection of the landfill
levy?
(2) If yes to (1) —
(a) does Eclipse Resources still
have an outstanding debt to the government; and
(b) if yes to
(a), how much is the debt and what action is the minister taking to recover the
money from Eclipse Resources?
(3) If no to (1) —
(a) when was the dispute resolved;
(b) how much did Eclipse Resources
pay the government; and
(c) when was the money paid?

I thank the member for some notice of the question. The Minister
for Environment has provided the following advice to me —
(1) Yes, the Department of Environment Regulation.
(2) The issue
of whether a debt is owed to the government by Eclipse Resources and the amount
of that debt is the subject of pending legal proceedings in the Supreme Court
of Western Australia.
(3) Not applicable.
