INITIAL
SURGERY APPOINTMENT — WAITING TIMES
61. Mr R.H. COOK to the Minister for
Health:
I have a supplementary question. Is
it not the fact that with more patients than ever before waiting and those
patients waiting longer than ever before that the minister has lacked focus and
forgotten about the patients, whereas he should be putting them first?

Once again that is a very long
supplementary question with lots of prelim; I am sure it does not meet with the
standing orders of the house. Nevertheless, again that is not true. Compare us
with the rest of Australia: we have moved from being in the middle of the road
compared with other states when you were in government, to now second best, and
the member hates it, doesn't he?
Mr
R.H. Cook : You're going backwards.
Dr
K.D. HAMES : We are not going backwards, despite being —
Mr
R.H. Cook interjected.
The
SPEAKER : Member for Kwinana, I call you to order for the first time. You
have blotted the record book.
Mr
R.H. Cook interjected.
The
SPEAKER : Member for Kwinana!
Dr
K.D. HAMES : It is unfortunate that every time I answer a question in this
house I have to shout. Why do I have to shout? Because I have the member for
Kwinana shouting at me! He never wants to hear the answer. All he wants to do
is get up, perform and show how loud he can shout. The member is wasting his
time.
