(2) Are there any circumstances in which a principal or deputy principal might be appointed or transferred to a position of principal or deputy principal in a Government school without receiving a written confirmation of that appointment through the central process system?
(3) If yes to (2), what are these circumstances?
(4) Are principals and deputy principals appointed to a Department of Education position or to the individual school at which they will be working?
(5) If both appointment types in (4) are utilised, under what circumstances is each different appointment type utilised?
(6) What are the differences, if any, between the manner in which principals and deputy principals are appointed and the manner in which teachers are appointed through the central process system?

(4) Employees are appointed as principals or deputy principals and located at a specific school.
(5) Not applicable.
(6) Teachers have a central transfer system.
The Department is committed to filling substantive promotional vacancies through selection based on merit, wherever practicable. Notwithstanding, there are instances where principals and deputy principals move at level.
They may need to be placed due to:
· organisational reasons beyond their control, such as school closures;
· applications for a transfer due to exceptional circumstances; or
· deployment by the Department for organisational reasons.
