I refer to the Government’s commitment to sustainability. (1) Does the Department for Planning and Infrastructure acknowledge the need for sustainability to be the overarching framework on which it bases its decisions? (2) Has the department made a submission to the Department of the Premier and Cabinet in response to “Focus on the Future: Opportunities for Sustainability in Western Australia”? (3) Will the minister table that submission? Hon GRAHAM GIFFARD

I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1) Sustainability, the simultaneous achievement of environmental, economic and social goals, is acknowledged by the Department for Planning and Infrastructure and through the state planning strategy as the key basis for decision making. (2) Yes. (3) The submission has been made to the director of the sustainability policy unit. It is for that unit to determine whether individual submissions will be published prior to evaluation. Point of Order Hon TOM STEPHENS: The frontbench of the Opposition is not here. The PRESIDENT: There is no point of order. Questions without Notice Resumed
