BENNETT BROOK DISABILITY
JUSTICE CENTRE — SUPREME COURT INJUNCTION
750. Hon MICHAEL MISCHIN to the Minister for Disability Services:
(1) When did the
minister first become aware of the application for an injunction against media
outlets in respect of the disability justice centre?
(2) When did he
become aware that the orders that were made gagged reporting on any events at
the centre, including any escapes, assaults and failures to abide by
leave-of-absence conditions rather than merely identifying inmates?

AnswerView source ↗

(1)–(2) To
my knowledge, I first became aware of the issue on Saturday of the weekend just
gone. In relation to the implications of the order, the advice given to me is
different from the premise of the member's question. Therefore, I do
not agree with what the member has asked.
