I thank the honourable member for some notice of this question. On behalf of the Minister for Energy who represents the Minister for Emergency Services, I provide the following response. FESA is unable to provide the breakdown of ESL collected by metropolitan versus regional areas within this time constraint. However, a high level overview of the ESL collected to date is provided below. (1) The total amount collected in 2011–12 is $87.140 million as at 31 October 2011. (2) (a) A total of $3.906 million was spent on appliances and equipment in 2011–12 as at 31 October 2011. Please note that the response to (2)(a) includes outlays on FESA-owned equipment and appliances as well as the cost of equipment and appliances grants delivered to State Emergency Service units and bush fire brigades via the local government ESL grants scheme. (b) FESA’s accounting system is not structured to provide this response. (c) A total of $8.410 million was spent on capital works in 2011–12 as at 31 October 2011. Please note that outlays on FESA owned equipment and appliances that formed part of the response to question (2)(a) are included in FESA’s capital works program and are therefore contained within the totals in answer (2)(c).
