(1) I refer to your media statement of 19 June 2001 entitled ‘Glossy annual reports a waste of taxpayers money’ and ask will future electronic versions of annual reports be in black and white format only or will they include coloured diagrams, figures and / or photographs?
(2) Because many businesses and families do not own colour printers, will the Premier direct Government agencies to produce future annual reports only in black and white or to use colour so that the integrity of the information is still retained when printed in black and white?
(3) How will the Government help people, who do not have access to the internet, in their efforts to obtain a copy of future annual reports?
(4) Is it true that, in effect, this decision is transferring a legitimate Government cost to the private sector?

(2) As annual reports will be published in various media, agencies will need to consider designing their annual report to ensure the integrity of the content is not compromised by the output medium used. (3) Agencies are required to deposit copies with the Library and Information Service of Western Australia and these reports will be available to the public. Copies are also available for viewing in the Bills and Papers Office at Parliament House. In line with the Government's commitment to openness and accountability, Agencies can also make printed copies available for members of the public requiring a report. (4) No. The availability of annual reports via the Internet and other electronic media is a value added service, providing wider and more rapid access to this information.
