(2) The Development Officer will be a community capacity-building and community development position which will establish strong relationships with key stakeholders throughout the region to: · create opportunities for children and young people to participate in local decision-making and facilitate their engagement in events and activities · assist organisations and groups with the development of policy and programs affecting children and young people · support and promote the development of children’s/young peoples’ plans. The Development Officer will provide advice and support to groups and children and young peoples’ networks, facilitate children and young peoples’ access to training and professional development and provide regional input to program and policy development. They will promote the development of children's/young peoples’ plans in partnership with local government. They will also encourage children and young people to join in community activities and decision-making. The officer will help organise cultural programs to get children and young people involved in dance, theatre and film-making and encourage positive reporting of children’s achievements. (3) 37.5 hours per fortnight. (4) There are no plans at this stage for the positions to become full-time.
