METRONET — FEDERAL
FUNDING
42. Hon PETER COLLIER to
the Leader of the House representing the Premier:
I refer to the government's
Metronet projects.
(1) Has the Premier written to the
Prime Minister requesting funding for Metronet?
(2) If yes to (1),
how many times has the Premier written to the Prime Minister, and on what dates
did he write to the Prime Minister?
(3) Will the minister table copies
of the correspondence to the Prime Minister; and, if not, why not?

I thank the Leader of the Opposition
for some notice of the question. On behalf of the Leader of the House, I provide
the following response.
(1)–(3) The
government has made numerous representations to the commonwealth about the
funding of Metronet since coming to office in March 2017. The nature of these
representations has included meetings at officer level, discussions between ministers, and communications between the
Premier and senior commonwealth representatives, including the Prime
Minister. In addition, the Premier wrote to the Prime Minister on 13 September
2018 about the state's infrastructure-related priorities and attached
the state's list of submissions to Infrastructure Australia's
infrastructure priority list. As a state priority project, Metronet was one
component of this letter. Given that this request is still subject to
negotiation between the state and the commonwealth, it would be inappropriate
to table any related correspondence at this time.
