On average all students across the state (Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal) attend for the following percentage of time: Year Group Attendance Rate Primary Attendance Rate 92.6% Secondary Attendance Rate 87.6% Combined Attendance Rate 90.7% (3) An enhanced Attendance Strategy is being developed and will be announced at a later date. Strategies currently used to manage attendance include: The Attendance and School Attendance Panel policies; Annual Student Attendance Audit in August and a voluntary audit in May; District Attendance Officers in every district; SMS strategy that advises parents when their child is not in attendance in approximately 125 schools; Student Tracking System; Standardised Leave Passes Guidelines; Keeping Kids in Schools Program: Community level arrangements with retailers to decline service to students during school hours; Tri-border Attendance Strategy;  MOU with the Department of Corrective Services to manage young people either entering or exiting secure facilities; and Northbridge Project in collaboration with the Department of Child Protection. In consultation with Aboriginal Education Advisory Councils, the Department provides flexible funding to districts for addressing issues affecting Aboriginal students. The 2007 - 2009 funding has focused on strategies to improve attendance.
