1320. Hon BEN DAWKINS to the Minister for Agriculture and Food:
I refer to the total number of live
exports of sheep and cattle from Western Australia.
(1) What was the total
number of sheep and the total number of cattle exported live from WA in the following
calendar years —
(a) 2022; and
(b) 2023 to date?
(2) If this data is not able to be provided in the
time available, can the minister please advise why the Department of
Primary Industries and Regional Development does not keep up-to-date headline statistics
to enable the minister to have relevant and timely information for decision-making
purposes?

I am pleased to
announce that I do, indeed, have that data to hand.
(1) (a) A total
of 508 400 sheep and 152 047 cattle were exported via WA ports, by sea, in the
2022 calendar year.
(b) A total of
425 274 sheep and 103 062 cattle were exported via WA ports, by sea, up to 31 August
2023.
(2) Not applicable.
