Responded by
Minister for Police and Emergency Services
Response time
42 days
(1) As of 1 March 2008
Speed Camera infringement notices - 53 days (7.6 weeks)
Red Light Camera infringement notices - 99 Days (14.1 weeks)
(2) Prior to the introduction of the Image and Infringement Processing System (IIPS) on 1 July 2006 this data was manually collated. This answer provides the data from July 2006 which is readily available.
Red Light
A number of images are culled from the infringement process and therefore do not equate to an infringement notice being issued. Unless the charge can be provide beyond reasonable doubt, an infringement notice is not issued. Therefore the number of images is not the same as the number of infringement notices issued.
[see tabled paper no]
(3) This is variable as deployment film may be cancelled for a number of reasons e.g. technical / operator issues with set up, focus, flash issues. Where there is any doubt of the quality of the film it is culled. The number of images on a deployment (film) can range from zero to 300 images.
