SOCIAL
HOUSING — INVESTMENT PACKAGES
855. Hon TIM CLIFFORD to the minister representing the
Minister for Housing:
In
December 2019, the Premier and the Minister for Housing announced the $150 million
housing investment package, which, among several other objectives, would
build 300 new social homes. In June, in response to COVID-19, a further $444 million
in housing stimulus, which includes 250 new social housing builds, was
announced. Are these two packages running simultaneously or has the housing
investment package been amalgamated into the most recent announcement?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following answer has been provided to me by
the Minister for Housing.
The two packages are run
simultaneously. A combined total of about 550 new social housing dwellings will
be delivered as a result of both packages.
Approximately 300 new social housing dwellings will be constructed through the housing and homelessness investment package throughout 2020–22,
with roughly 250 new social housing dwellings delivered via the social housing
economic recovery package throughout 2020–23.
