SYNERGY — INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY JOBS
I again refer to the minister’s statement today about Synergy jobs. (1) Can the minister name the global company that has been contracted to provide the information technology services? (2) What exact services will this company provide? (3) What is the cost of the contract? (4) Was this contract the result of an open tender process? Hon PETER COLLIER

I thank the member for the question. I will keep my response short. Hon Kate Doust : About time! Hon PETER COLLIER : I will keep it short, because it is a very short response. I would not mind standing here all day, quite frankly. (1)-(4) With regard to the actual contract, that is in confidence, and I will not be making any comment on that whatsoever. What were the other questions? Hon Kate Doust : The cost, and was the contract the result of an open tender process. Hon PETER COLLIER : Yes, it was an open tender process. Contrary to Hon Kate Doust’s assertion that there was just one company and the contract did not go to tender, it was an open tender process. As I understand it, 15 companies tendered for that contract. A wide range of highly desirable companies tendered. However, as I have said, we have a quality company that is committed to coming to Western Australia to provide jobs for Western Australians.
