I refer to the Department of Transport contracts with third party organisations to provide practical driving assessments (PDAs) for heavy vehicles, and ask: (a) how many contracts are currently in place to deliver these services; (b) has there been any changes to these contracts since the change of Government in March 2017; (c) is the Government considering any changes to these contracts or the eligibility criteria for providers; (d) if yes to (c) what are the changes being considered; and (e) if yes to (c) when would the changes be introduced?

(c)-(e) The Department of Transport continuously evaluates its contracting processes and requirements to anticipate and meet customer demand. Consideration is also currently being given to methods of contractually strengthening compliance within the heavy vehicle assessment industry. The eligibility criteria remain the same.
