(b) The Western Australia Police Force cannot provide a response to these questions as there is no systematic and reliable link between an administered breath test and subsequent recording of a charge in the Prosecution application. The number of people charged in 2025 for each category is provided as a proxy. Charge data has been provided on the assumption that the question refers to charges for excess 0.05% blood alcohol content and 0.08% blood alcohol content.
(i) 1,480
(ii) 4,468
(iii) 1,942
(c) The Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure advises that the number of defect notices issued from 01/01/2025 to 31/12/2025 is 6,041.
(d) 8,998.
Note:
The figures in (d) are the number of vehicles seized for impoundment between 01 January 2025 and 31 December 2025 where the impoundment types 'Roadside - Driving (Hoon)', 'Roadside - Driver's Licence', 'Court Ordered - Driving (Hoon)' and 'Court Ordered - Driver's Licence'. The figure is the number of impoundment occurrences, not the number of unique vehicles.
