I refer to the overrepresentation of Aboriginal people in family and domestic violence data and the Ombudsman’s findings regarding systemic factors, and I ask: (a) what proportion of victim-survivors and perpetrators in family and domestic violence incidents identify as Aboriginal in each of the past three years; (b) what culturally appropriate risk assessment tools or frameworks are currently in use across the system; (c) what actions are being taken to address the underlying systemic and intergenerational factors contributing to this overrepresentation; and (d) what consultation has been undertaken with Aboriginal community-controlled organisations in the development of these responses?

(a) The information sought is contained in individual incident reports and is not available in an easily reportable format.
(b – d) Common Risk Assessment is a nationally recognised, critical foundation for family and domestic violence responses. The System Reform Plan committed to redevelopment of the CRARMF and development of a dedicated Aboriginal Family Violence Risk Assessment Tool. Both are currently in-progress, informed by extensive consultation with government agencies, the community services sector, and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations.
