I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1) (a) seven; (b) forty-eight; (c) fifty; and (d) three. (2) Demand has increased significantly in the past two years. The additional taxi plates that have been released are specifically to address the demand. The release of conventional plates is the first in 14 years. It is to help relieve the current high demand for taxi services. (3) The minister recently committed to advertising an additional 12 multipurpose taxi plates and 34 peak plates. Twenty conventional taxi plates are also being released immediately to applicants from the previous tender for conventional taxi plates.
