I thank the member for some notice of this question, and I provide the answer on behalf of the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Planning and Infrastructure. (1) The Fremantle eastern bypass is reserved in the metropolitan region scheme as a primary regional road. The various government properties continue to be managed and tenanted by the relevant owners. (2) Yes. (3) The Western Australian Planning Commission resolved to initiate a major section 33 amendment to the MRS to delete the FEB reservation between Healy Road, Hamilton Hill and High Street, Fremantle. The WA Planning Commission noted that consequential actions and amendments are being investigated as part of the freight network review. A major amendment is the normal way to amend the MRS. No delays in this process have been identified. (4) The land could be sold, but it would be detrimentally affected by the reservation, and its redevelopment potential would be reduced or uncertain as the land would not be suitably zoned in both the metropolitan region scheme and the local town planning scheme. (5) A decision on the alternative road network requirements is yet to be finalised.
