I refer to an interview with Dr Tim Sugden from Nova Energy Ltd on Channel 31 last night, his statements about Nova’s holdings in Western Australia and information contained in the company’s prospectus and on its web site at www.novaenergy.com.au. (1) Can the minister confirm whether any exploration or mining tenements in Western Australia have been applied for or are held by Nova Energy, Argonaut Capital Ltd or Agincourt Pty Ltd? (2) Can the minister state who owns the exploration or mining tenements covering the Lake Way uranium deposits, the Centipede uranium deposits and, specifically, M53/224? (3) Is the minister aware of any arrangements by Nova Energy to gain tributes or other access arrangements to the leases identified in (2)? (4) If the answer to (1) and (4) is no, can the minister identify how Nova Energy can claim it is to explore, evaluate and exploit the Centipede and Lake Way uranium deposits and surrounding exploration tenements in the Wiluna region of Western Australia, referred to as the Wiluna uranium assets? Hon KIM CHANCE

I thank Hon Paul Llewellyn for some notice of the question. (1) No exploration or mining tenements in Western Australia are held in the names of Nova Energy Ltd, Argonaut Capital Ltd or Agincourt Pty Ltd. However, Nova has lodged caveats claiming an interest in a number of tenements. (2) The area around the Lake Way uranium deposit is subject to an application for exploration licence 53/1132, which was applied for by Alarow Pty Ltd. The area around the Centipede uranium deposit is covered by mining lease 53/224, which is held by Wiluna Gold Pty Ltd. It and other tenements in the region are the subject of Nova’s claimed interest, as referred to in (1). (3) Yes. (4) Not applicable.
