I refer to plans to cut staff numbers in country hospitals under the Labor Government’s new shared service arrangements. In answer to a question on notice in the Legislative Council dated 23 June 2004, which was answered on 17 August 2004, the minister advised - The final number of positions affected will not be determined until around September of this year when the design phase is completed. As it is now late September, we again ask - (1) How many staff will be lost from country hospitals because of these arrangements, and what are the estimated savings to country health services? (2) Will all savings from lost country positions be reinvested in front-line health services in country hospitals? Mr J.A. McGINTY
