I thank the member for some notice of this question. The Minister for the Environment has provided the following reply - It is not possible to estimate revenue from the 30 new national parks being created under the Governments “protecting our old-growth forests” policy. The application of visitor fees is related to the level of facilities and services available to the visiting public and the capacity to collect fees in a cost-effective manner, which depends on factors such as access points. Management plans are in preparation for a number of the proposed new national parks, which will, through public consultation, determine the amenities to be provided. The appropriateness of introducing fees will be determined at a later date.
