MINISTER FOR MINES AND PETROLEUM — CONFLICT OF INTEREST
(1) Does the Premier accept that the ministerial code of conduct specifically nominates that, for the purposes of the code, “the transfer of interest to a spouse, de facto partner or dependant family member or to a nominee or trust is not an acceptable form of divestment”? (2) Does the Premier therefore accept that the Minister for Mines and Petroleum, Hon Norman Moore, is consequently in breach of the code? (3) Does the Premier concede that, due to his inaction, ministerial standards have been dramatically lowered and the bar for his ministers is now set at ankle height? Mr C.J. BARNETT

I again thank the Leader of the Opposition for the question. (1)-(3) It is my understanding that the trust in which the Woodside and BHP shares were bought by Mrs Moore from her superannuation when she retired from the government school system over 12 months ago was established well before the election.
