The simple point I make is that the
relationship between health and the decision to grow GM crops in Australia is
not one that fits into the state's jurisdiction. The only
responsibility —
Several members interjected.
Mr M.P. Murray :
What did the Premier say?
Mr P. Papalia : You
don't sound very confident.
Mr
M.P. Murray : There'll be no more GM crops in WA.
The
SPEAKER : Member for Collie–Preston!
Mr
M.P. Murray interjected.
The
SPEAKER : Member for Collie–Preston, I formally call you to order
for the second time today.
Mr
D.T. REDMAN : The big concern I have out of this is that the scaremongering
comments that come from the member for Warnbro and the opposition are around
raising public health concerns —
Mr
R.H. Cook : Yes or no?
Mr
D.T. REDMAN : The member for Kwinana should be listening to this very
closely as well because he simply should not go out and raise public health
concerns when the relevant federal authorities have signed off —
Mr
W.J. Johnston interjected.
Mr J.N. Hyde : Food
Standards Australia reports to you.
Mr
P. Papalia : You've done nothing, have you?
The
SPEAKER : Member for Warnbro, I formally call you to order for the first
time today. Member for Perth, I formally call you to order for the first time
today. Member for Cannington, I formally call you to order for the first time
today. I am not interested in this question or this answer going on for much
longer, Minister for Agriculture and Food.
Mr D.T. REDMAN : I
think the comments I have made on this in the past stand on the public record,
and I think it is something that is ill-researched by the opposition.
