I refer to the Aboriginal community of Punmu in the Pilbara, its location within Karlamilyi National Park, and the condition of houses in the area, and I ask: (a) What correspondence has the State Government had with the Punmu community in regard to housing; (b) What funding is available for the community to access to repair houses; (c) Does the fact the houses sit within a national park affect the ability to perform repairs, and if so how; and (d) What funding has been provided by the State Government to ensure these houses can be repaired?

(a) – (b), (d)
Housing in the Punmu community is managed by the Punmu Aboriginal Corporation (PAC). PAC is responsible for repairs and maintenance, funded through tenant rent and other revenue sources such as the community store and contractor accommodation facilities.
The Department of Housing and Works has discussed potential housing investment with the Punmu community under the State Government’s Remote Communities Fund, and Punmu can also access other eligible grants and funding programs. In addition, funding was provided by the State government in 2022 for maintenance to all houses in Punmu under the Social Housing Economic Recovery Package.
(c)        No.
