ARMADALE RAIL LINE — CLOSURE
1303. Hon TJORN SIBMA to the minister representing the
Minister for Transport:
I refer to the upcoming closure of
the Armadale line to facilitate Metronet works and my earlier questions
concerning consultation with disability advocates.
(1) On how many
occasions has the minister, her office or the Metronet project team met with
People with Disabilities WA, or PWDWA?
(2) What issues
were discussed and what matters were resolved?
(3) Has the
minister, her office or the Metronet project team received any written
correspondence from PWDWA; and, if so, when was it received, and when was a reply
provided?
(4) How can the minister claim that consultation has
been adequate when the chair of PWDWA, Yhana Lucas , has stated —
This lack of response, or resolution,
falls well short of the expectations I held for the Cook Government—particularly given that I am,
currently, a Labor party member and personally known to and connected
with both Ministers and advisers. If, within a year of leaving Dumas House
after advising a Minister for four years, I cannot get a response from a Labor
Government, what hope do other constituents with a disability have?

Public Transport Authority and the Metronet team have met with representatives
across the disability sector in relation to public transport, including through
the Metronet access and inclusion reference group, and worked with key stakeholders and the broader community to minimise
disruption during the Armadale line shutdown.
