I refer to a Labor Party policy document headed “Making our Community Safer” which reads, in part, that Labor will - establish an Office of Crime Prevention that is directly responsible to the Premier. Its main objective will be to develop the crime prevention strategy for government as a whole and to be a leading driver in putting this strategy into practice; . . . The Office of Crime Prevention will: . . . produce information bulletins about Western Australia’s crime statistics, analysis of crime, regional differences and any changing patterns in the State’s crime rate; (1) Since March 2001, how many information bulletins have been produced, and on what dates? (2) Where are these bulletins on crime statistics to be found? (3) Why are they not available on the Office of Crime Prevention web site? (4) Why does the Office of Crime Prevention web site, with regard to such information, refer only to United Kingdom Home Office and Victorian web sites, in some cases with incorrect hyperlinks? (5) Since March 2001, what analyses of crime have been undertaken? (6) What has the Office of Crime Prevention done to determine the regional differences, and when was this work carried out? (7) Does the Office of Crime Prevention have any documentation of its own on the changing patterns in the State’s crime rate? (8) If so, in what year was that research undertaken? (9) Will the minister table a copy of this documentation identifying the studies, reports and analyses from which it was derived? Hon KIM CHANCE

I noted that Hon Peter Foss indicated during the context of the question that it was directed to me. As it happens I have an answer to a question dealing with the Office of Crime Prevention, but it does not resemble in any way the question asked by the member. It is a five-part answer and member has asked a nine-part question. I have no reference in my files to the nine-part part question. Hon Peter Foss interjected. Hon KIM CHANCE: Perhaps the member should have asked yesterday’s question today. Hon Peter Foss: I did not get today’s one in time. Hon KIM CHANCE: If the answer arrives during question time today, I will be happy to supply it.
