PILBARA ELECTRICITY
REFORMS — HORIZON POWER
478. Mr D.C. NALDER to the Premier:
I have a supplementary question. Who
is really pulling the strings on whether the people of Western Australia should
have choice in electricity—the Premier or Christy Cain and the union?

Considering the member raised the
name Christy Cain, I want to quote something said in this house about Mr Cain.
It was a question that was asked to the Minister for Transport. I quote —
I refer to the Maritime Union of
Australia's fact sheet titled ''The Truth about the Flawed Outer
Harbour Plan'', written by Westport Taskforce member Christy Cain
There were some interjections. The
member then asked —
I will start again. Thank you, Mr
Speaker. When I next contact Mr Cain, I will note the laughter from the
government benches.

Given that Mr Cain is well informed
about this issue and is a member of the government's task force, does
the minister accept that Mr Cain is right about the outer harbour?
Who asked that question? The Leader
of the Opposition! I want to quote again.
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : Members, the
Premier is on his feet!
Mr M. McGOWAN : The Leader of
the Opposition said, ''When I next contact Mr Cain.'' What does
that indicate? What is going on here? The Liberal Party is in a secret alliance
with Christy Cain! Is that what is going on in Western Australia? That was on 9
May 2018; a mere year ago. The plot thickens.
I would be very careful about
quoting Mr Cain, member for Bateman, because it appears the Leader of the
Liberal Party has been in contact with him. It appears the Leader of the Liberal
Party has been having secret discussions with him. I forget what the question
was now!
Mr R.H. Cook : Who is pulling
the strings?
Mr M. McGOWAN : Clearly, we
now know who is pulling the Liberal Party strings. We now know because the Leader of the Liberal Party outed that matter. It
also begs questions. There are things that have been hidden. Was the member for Bateman aware of the change of policy on Western Power? Was he aware
before the announcement?
Mr D.C. Nalder : I get in
trouble for answering questions.
Mr M. McGOWAN : Was the member
for Bateman aware of the matter?
Mr D.C. Nalder : Can I answer?
The Speaker told me I am not allowed to answer.
Mr M. McGOWAN : Apparently he
did not know there was a leadership change happening either, Mr Speaker. What I
hear is that he was in the chamber when the announcement was made. He could not
get out there and do the numbers because he was stuck in here dealing with the
TAB legislation. The member for Bateman is very angry about that fact, and so
is the member for Cottesloe. Both of them, who were in on that cunning plan,
were stuck in here dealing with the TAB.
Mrs L.M. Harvey : How did it
go Monday night?
Mr M. McGOWAN : You are in
contact. You have admitted that.
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : Members!
Mr
M. McGOWAN : Apparently, the
member for Bateman was left out. I think that answers very comprehensively the question that was put to me.
The SPEAKER : Before we continue, members, a couple of
times today I have been on my feet and people have kept talking. I will name
you all if I have to. When I stand on my feet, there has to be complete silence
and I will not have it any other way.
