GOVERNMENT
REGIONAL OFFICERS' HOUSING — DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
1417. Hon SUE ELLERY to the
Minister for Education:
I refer to Government Regional OfficersXXX ###XXX
Housing stock allocated to the Department of Education teaching staff in
regional Western Australia. Is the Minister for Education satisfied that this
stock is of a satisfactory standard and would he live in it?

I thank the honourable
member for some notice of the question. Government Regional OfficersXXX ###XXX
Housing provides the Department of Education with accommodation for regional
employees. GROH has a policy to inspect all its properties annually and when
tenants vacate properties, and it has processes in place to address maintenance
needs. The Department of Housing has responsibility for arranging maintenance
or renovation works. The member asked whether I would live in one. No, I enjoy
my place in Subiaco at the moment, so I do not think I will be moving. I might
go back to teaching, eventually, when I leave this place, and I might go back
to Kalgoorlie or somewhere and then look into a GROH house, but at this stage I
am quite comfortable where I am.
