Minister for Police:
I refer to the commencement of the
firearm buyback scheme, which has been now operating for one week.
(1) How many firearms have been
surrendered to date?
(2) What is the value of
compensation paid or expected to be paid in relation to (1)?
(3) Has the Western
Australia Police Force identified any resourcing or security concerns in
relation to firearms that are taken to police facilities?
(4) How was the
$64.3 million allocation determined, and what portion will be used for
administrative expenses or expenses other than compensation?
