(a) - (c) Please refer to Legislative Assembly Question on Notice 1415.
For the Department of Education and Training
(a) On-hold music can be any radio station, CD or recorded performance.
(b) Individual schools and business areas are required to observe copyright requirements and pay APRA the appropriate corporate/small business workplace fees.
(c) For Central Office, pre recorded information messages are used and this is managed by Corporate Communications and Marketing Branch. For schools and other areas; principals and business area managers have responsibility for their individual telephone systems.
For the Curriculum Council of WA
(a) Recorded classical music.
(b) Nil
(c) Manager, Information Services (through the Chief Executive Officer).
For the Department of Education Services
(a) Neither music nor radio is used
(b) & (c) Not applicable
For Tourism WA
(a) Tourism Western Australia, located at 2 Mill Street Perth, currently has an on-hold message system that contains music created for the Gene Michael Productions Music Library and is the sole property of Gene Michael Productions (GMP).
Tourism Western Australia regional offices do not have on-hold recorded messages.
(b) The music used on Tourism WA's on-hold message system is purchased under license from GMP, which in turn arranges the appropriate fees, if applicable, to be paid to relevant copyright bodies
(c) Mr Andrew Kikiros, Manager of Media and PR.
For the Rottnest Island Authority
(a) Nil. Promotional material relating to Rottnest Island is broadcast on office on-hold telephony systems.
(b) $160 paid to APRA in 2008/09 for Rottnest Island Gift Shop background music. The Gift Shop has now ceased operations.
(c) Paolo Amaranti, Chief Executive Officer.
