(7) The Department has always required stolen mobile phones to be reported to the Police and now also requires lost mobile phones to be reported to Police. The Department has also amended its asset management process by requiring the person reporting the incident to sign a statutory declaration outlining facts surrounding the loss or theft of the mobile phone and for managers to consider the degree of staff negligence involved in the loss of the item. Where it is determined an individual was negligent, disciplinary action may proceed. (8) Reporting lost mobile phones to the Police was introduced in August 2006.
