MANGLES BAY MARINA DEVELOPMENT — ECONOMIC
STUDY
1133. Hon LYNN MacLAREN to the Minister
for Planning:
I refer to the proposed Mangles Bay
marina development.
(1) Further to
question without notice 1160, asked on 15 October 2015, will the minister now
table the Mangles Bay marina economic study?
(2) Given the
study was completed some three and a half years ago, in early 2013, does the
minister agree its findings could be no longer regarded as valid?
(3) If no to (2), why not?
(4) When does the
minister expect a decision will be made regarding metropolitan region scheme
major amendment 1280/41, ''Mangles Bay Marina'', and when will
this decision be made public?
(5) Will the
minister please table the conditions under which a crown grant in trust was
issued to the Crippled Children's Seaside Home Society on 10 April
1957?

I thank the member for some notice
of the question.
(1)–(3) The
City of Rockingham has received a local structure plan and economic impact
assessment for the Mangles Bay marina and is responsible for advertising the
structure plan. The economic impact assessment will be considered when the City
of Rockingham provides the structure plan to the Western Australian Planning
Commission for its determination.
(4) I am advised
that the amendment has been advertised for the required 90-day public
submission period, and 496 submissions and 95 requests for hearings were
received. All requests for hearings have been met and the Mangles Bay marina
hearings committee is currently finalising its deliberations prior to making a recommendation
to the WAPC, which in turn will make a recommendation to me.
(5) This is not a
matter within the scope of the planning portfolio and should be directed to the
Minister for Lands.
