156. Hon Dr Brad Pettitt to the minister representing
the Minister for Corrective Services:
I refer to my recent
visit to Banksia Hill Detention Centre on Monday 23 February 2026 and a
subsequent email my staffer sent to the minister's team on 25 February
2026 regarding an offensive smell impacting detainees and staff in the communal
area of one of the wings in the intensive supervision unit.
(1) Was the cause of the smell identified
and dealt with?
(2) Has the communal area and kitchen
undergone a deep clean as requested?
(3) If no to (1) and/or (2), why not?
