TAXIS — DRIVER DEMERIT SYSTEM
249. Hon KEN TRAVERS to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to the proposed new demerit points and probationary
system for taxidrivers.
(1) Who has been consulted about the proposed changes?
(2) On what dates did the consultations occur?
(3) Has there been any public consultation about these changes?
(4) If yes to (3), when and in what form did the consultation
occur?

Updates on progress and the policy principles of the proposed penalty point and
probationary system have been presented to the Taxi Council of Western
Australia on 7 Feb 2012, 9 April 2013 and 4 June 2013; the West Australian Taxi
Association, as a member of TCWA; the West Australian Country Taxi Operators
Association on 2 October 2012; the Taxi Industry Forum of Western Australia on
25 October 2012, 28 March 2013 and 30 April 2013; Swan Taxis, independently and
as a member of TCWA, on 13 January 2012 and 3 February 2012; Black and White
Cabs, independently and as a member of TCWA, on 4 January 2012 and 3 February
2012; and there have been formal updates through TCWA meetings and informal
updates through the TCWA meetings as and when required.
