The Department of Housing and Works has advised, as at 31 July 2007:
(1) 15,776 applications. It is worthy of note that as at 30 June 2001 there were 15584 applications.
(2)(a) 8834 applications.
(2)(b) Total applications for single-bedroom seniors' properties is 1969.
(2)(c) Total applications for two-bedroom seniors' properties is 807.
(2)(d) 5975 applications.
(3)(a) 4390 applications.
(3)(b) 3224 applications.
(3)(c) 952 applications.
(3)(d) 268 applications.
(3)(e-f) Total applications for single-bedroom and two-bedroom seniors' properties is 2776. Bed sitters are allocated from the waiting list for single-bedroom properties.
(3)(g) 5975 applications.
The State Government is committed to increasing social rental housing and to taking every opportunity presented to improve housing affordability. In the 2007-08 State Budget, the Government committed an additional $417M over four years for social and affordable housing and to deliver at least 1,000 extra social housing dwellings over the next four years.
