I refer to the Wallatin/O’Brien Catchment Demonstration Initiative and the need for monitoring of the 15 demonstration projects over the next ten years, and ask:
(a) given the significant State Government investment into this and similar projects, will the Minister commit funding to ensure the monitoring necessary to evaluate the initiative is undertaken; and
(i) if not, why not;
(b) has the Minister requested funding for monitoring of the demonstration projects from the Treasurer; and
(i) if not, why not; and
(ii) if the Minister has sought funding through the Treasurer, what was the outcome;
(c) has the Minister requested Royalties for Regions funding for monitoring of the demonstration projects from the Minister for Regional Development; and
(i) if not, why not; and
(ii) if the Minister has sought Royalties for Regions funding through the Minister for Regional Development, what was the outcome; and
(d) is the Minister willing to commit Department of Agriculture and Food staff time to undertake the monitoring; and
(i) if not, why not?

(i) An evaluation report into Catchment Demonstration Initiatives (CDI), including the Wallatin/O'Brien CDI project, commissioned by the Department of Agriculture and Food on behalf of the State Natural Resource Management (NRM) Office has been completed and is currently under consideration by the State NRM Office and NRM agencies. This will include a consideration of a commitment of funds, including from within current budget allocations, to the ongoing monitoring of CDI projects.
