SYNERGY — EMERGENCY SOLAR MANAGEMENT
940. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Energy:
I refer to Synergy's
capability as from 14 February 2022 to remotely turn off and turn on again new
and upgraded rooftop solar systems, which is apparently intended to be used
only when all other available options to protect the grid have been exhausted.
(1) How many
times has emergency solar management been activated for each month or portion
of month from October 2023 to June 2024?
(2) How many households were affected in that time through
the application of ESM?
(3) Were the
ESM affected households liable to pay for the electricity they consumed during
the time their solar units were remotely turned off?
(4) If yes to (3), at what price per kilowatt hour?
