I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(5) Yes,
I am aware of the work of the Aboriginal Male's Healing Centre Strong
Spirit Strong Families Strong Culture Inc. AMHC is seeking support for its
proposed live-in facility in Newman. Engagement with and support from
Aboriginal communities is pivotal to ensure that government funding and support
is directed to the services that will meet the needs and interests of their
respective community. The state government is developing a 10-year strategy for
reducing family and domestic violence in Western Australia, which will include
a dedicated approach to Aboriginal family safety. A key aim of the Aboriginal
family safety approach is to work in partnership with Aboriginal communities to
identify and support local Aboriginal initiatives and organisations, such as
the AMHC.
