I refer the Premier to the comments of Labor Party preselection candidate for the seat of Perth, Mr John Little, in an article in the Sunday Times last week, in which he admitted that he donates money to Sinn Fein, a wing of the Irish Republican Army, and that it would not bother him if any of his money went towards buying weapons for the IRA. (1) Does the Premier support the donation of funds to terrorist organisations such as the IRA? (2) Is the Premier aware that if Mr Little has in fact given money to the IRA, he may have contravened federal anti-terrorism laws? (3) Does the Premier support this preselection candidate who supports terrorist organisations? Several members interjected. The SPEAKER: Order, members! Dr G.I. GALLOP

(1)-(3) Mr Little can speak for himself on these matters. I speak for the Government of Western Australia. Of course, the Government of Western Australia, along with all other State Governments and the Commonwealth, has been working very hard to make sure that the evil of terrorism does not come to Australia. That is what we are doing in Western Australia. Several members interjected. The SPEAKER: Order, members! Dr G.I. GALLOP: Nothing more needs to be said on this subject on behalf of the Government. The people of Western Australia know where we stand on these matters. The people of Western Australia know what we do on these matters. It reflects poorly on the member for Kalgoorlie to try to play politics with this Chamber on issues such as that.
