WASTE AVOIDANCE AND RESOURCE RECOVERY LEVY
I refer the minister to the funds raised by the waste avoidance and resource recovery levy for 2008-09. (1) Of the funds raised from the levy, how much has been allocated for staffing? (2) How many full-time equivalents does this fund? (3) To whom do they report? Hon DONNA FARAGHER

I thank the member for some notice of her question. (1) The staffing cost for providing direct support to the Waste Authority in 2008-09 is $2 209 007. (2) The budget allocation for staffing represents costs for an average of 28 FTEs over the year. (3) Staff of the waste management branch are employed by the Department of Environment and Conservation, and as such have line reporting through to the director general in providing services to the Waste Authority. The DEC officers receive direct instruction from the Waste Authority about the substantive tasks allocated to them by the Waste Authority in the performance of its functions.
