PROTECTION (OFFENDER REPORTING) ACT — LAW REFORM COMMISSION
RECOMMENDATIONS
846. Hon LINDA
SAVAGE to the Attorney General representing the Minister for Police:
I refer to the Law Reform Commission of Western Australia's
final report on the Community Protection (Offender Reporting) Act 2004, project
101, dated January 2012.
(1) Does the
minister plan to implement the recommendations of the commission; if so, which
recommendations; and, if not, why not?
(2) If yes to
(1), when will a bill to amend the act and other legislation in line with the
recommendations be introduced?

On behalf of the Minister for Police, I thank the honourable
member for some notice of the question.
(1) The Law
Reform Commission of Western Australia's final report on the Community
Protection (Offender Reporting) Act 2004 was tabled in Parliament on 3 May
2012. In coming weeks the government will receive the completed statutory
review of the Community Protection (Offender Reporting) Act 2004 from WA
Police. The government will then be in a position to consider the
recommendations made by the Law Reform Commission's report in
conjunction with the recommendations arising from the statutory review of the act.
(2) Not applicable.
