(a) 2000;
(b) 2001;
(c) 2002;
(d) 2003;
(e) 2004;
(f) 2005;
(g) 2006;
(h) 2007;
(i) 2008;
(j) 2009; and
(k) 2010?
(2) Could the Minister also please provide this information as a percentage of the land area of the Parks?
(3) Does the Minister have an overall strategic plan of management, to control the infestation of Watsonia into our National and Regional Parks?
(4) If yes to (3), will the Minister please table this plan?
(5) If no to (3), why not?
(6) Will the Minister convene a task force to examine the crisis of introduced weeds in our National and Regional Parks, and particularly to examine the proposition that, ‘Watsonia and other key introduced weeds be declared a proscribed weed and to recommend strategies and funding for its control and eradication’?

(1)-(2) The Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) has advised that there are 86,112 hectares of national parks and 10,700 hectares of regional parks in the Perth Hills, of which approximately 3,120 hectares (3,000 hectares in national parks and 120 hectares in regional parks), or about three per cent, are infested by Watsonia.
(3)-(6) DEC prioritises weed control in accordance with the
Environmental Weed Strategy for Western Australia 1999
and individual
Conservation and Land Management Act 1984
park management plans, which are published documents. A taskforce is therefore not considered necessary.
